ST44-2023. ST44 numeration of 2xxx range means that a locomotive works on wide gauge tracks. This ST44-2023 received normal gauge boogies just to come from Braniewo (nearby Polish - Russian border) to Inowroclaw, probably for repairing.

I don't know who has bought that locomotive but for sure it was sold abroad.

PKP, 2002-01-25. Famous soviet diesel locomotive ST44-206 with a freight train in Kwidzyn. That train was transporting wood from Prabuty to International Paper's factory in Kwidzyn. At present (July 2002) ST44-206 is out of order.

Getting the wrong train from Pila Glowny in the Polish Republic and
ending up at Szeczchinek Glowny found a virtual paradise of ST44
activity. The primary reason for my trip to Poland was to photgraph
this class of locomotive that was employed by Deutche Reichsbahn,
Cesky Drahy, and is still in service on PKP, and many other
railways.

ST44-1101 waiting in Koscierzyna on the sidetrack, before being coupled to scheduled freight train. A lot of ST44-class locomotives had been withdrawn from the service as there're not enough money to fuel all of them.

Just like SP/SU series made steam passenger transport uneficient, so ST43 and ST44 were the direct cause of withdrawal steam locomotives in freight transport. ST44s were ordered in Soviet Union in mid-sixties (in total number 1182) and serviced unlectrified freight lines and broad gauge line from USSR to Silesia (Slask). Presented ST44-1056 (freshly repaired) from Depot Zajaczkowo Tczewskie (the largest freight station for Gdansk/Gdynia ports) is joined to freight train in Koscierzyna on July 04, 1997 during heavy rain.

This picture was taken on the request of the engineer (in the window). Russian-made ST44-1056, just renowed, from Depot Zajaczkowo Tczewskie is going to leave Koscierzyna with freight train (and in heavy rain, indeed...) on July 07, 1997. Photo and scan by: Jerry D. ST44-992 with ordinary passenger train 93121 to Hel, before leaving Gdynia. During the summer, facing the lack of SU45 locomotives, some ST44 ones are used to service trains to Hel. Unfortunatelly these locomotives must lower their speed passing some places dangerous to their bogies.
