Polish facories never produced diesel locomotives for heavy freight trains. Two classes of that was ordered in USSR and Romania. Picture shows ST43-260 (produced in 23 August factoy in Bucuresti - Romania) in Wolsztyn with local freight train. (taken on June 17, 1997)

ST43-221 freight diesel with fast passenger train 33503 'Poloniny' from Krakow Glowny to Zagorz, before leaving Jaslo. During the summer, when no heating is needed, freight diesels sometimes haul passenger trains on unelectrified routes.

ST43-404 - the only locomotive of that class in Nowy Sacz, that is able to work. Usually it shunts heavy trains inside the yard.

The overnight fast train Bieszczady, pulled by a ST43 locomotive has arrived to Sanok and the engineer is watching as mail and parcels are being unloaded from the postal car behind the locomotive. The Romanian-built ST43 locomotives are also used to haul passenger trains (during the summer when no train heating is needed).
